The public's trust in the science of avoiding unhealthy weight depends on a radical reform of the design and execution of weight loss programmes and their clinical trials. This Perspective reiterates the longstanding argument for measuring the effectiveness of each component of an intervention on obesity. The aim of the present experiment was to examine if priming children with images of diverse vegetables by means of a memory game increased subsequent vegetable intake.
Methods: We conducted a randomized between-subject design with 100 children (age: 7-12 y) who played a memory-game, containing images of either vegetables (n = 47) or non-food items (n = 53).
Each episode of fatty or sugary food consumption contributes to the pathophysiological alterations found in obesity. The present study estimated episodic frequency of energy-dense food (EDF) consumption in 348 adult women with excessive adiposity. Participants reported in open questions their habitual exercise and EDF consumption per week.
