XEN Gel Stent to Treat ICE Syndrome: 4 Cases.

Unlabelled: PRéCIS:: This case series reports safe, effective implantation of XEN gel stents to treat iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome. The stents continue to function well and have not been occluded by membranes or peripheral anterior synechiae, but continued follow-up is necessary.

Purpose: ICE syndrome-related glaucoma is often refractory to medical treatment, and traditional surgical treatment has lower success rates than typical for other types of glaucoma.

Intermediate-term and long-term outcome of piggyback drainage: connecting glaucoma drainage device to a device in-situ for improved intraocular pressure control.

Importance: This study provides results of a treatment option for patients with failed primary glaucoma drainage device.

Background: The study aimed to describe and evaluate the long-term intraocular pressure control and complications of a new technique joining a second glaucoma drainage device directly to an existing glaucoma drainage device termed 'piggyback drainage'.

Design: This is a retrospective, interventional cohort study.

Purpose: Portable, telemedicine-friendly devices offer novel opportunity for screening and monitoring glaucoma in the remote and rural regions of the world. This study examines the effective combination of telemedicine-friendly screening devices for detection of glaucoma in relation with conventional, hospital-based devices.

Methods: A total of 399 eyes were screened with telemedicine-friendly devices and conventional, hospital-based devices such as ophthalmoscope, tonometer and perimeter.

Familial transmission risk of infantile glaucoma in Australia.

Purpose: Primary infantile glaucoma (PIG) is predominantly inherited as a recessive disease, whereas anterior segment dysgenesis (ASD) is usually dominantly inherited. The purpose of this study was to determine the likelihood of a person who has infantile glaucoma to produce a child who also manifests the disease.

Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional design was utilized.

Primary infantile glaucoma in an Australian population.

Background: Primary infantile glaucoma presents rarely, but can be responsible for significant visual morbidity. There is little information on the clinical features and visual outcome of a pure population of primary infantile glaucoma, as opposed to a mixed population of primary and secondary glaucoma or combined group of those with trabeculodysgenesis and iridotrabeculodysgenesis.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of children with primary infantile glaucoma seen in south-eastern Australia between 1980 and 2000, using The Royal Children's Hospital ophthalmic diagnostic coding database.
