[Effectivity and satisfaction with the treatment for dyslipidemia with pitavastatin. Multicentric, descriptive, post authorised and observational study (REINA study)].

Introduction: Evaluating the therapeutical adherence as well as the patient' satisfaction with the treatment should be considered to optimize lipidic control. The REINA Study evaluates the grade of satisfaction in dyslipidemic patients treated with pitavastatin.

Methods: The current study was observational, descriptive, transversal and multi-centric with patients from our country only.

Antihypertensive efficacy and safety of manidipine versus amlodipine in elderly subjects with isolated systolic hypertension: MAISH study.

Background And Objective: Isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) affects 10-20% of the elderly population and is strongly related to the risk of cardiovascular events. Elevated systolic BP values are primarily caused by reduced large vessel compliance with a consequent increase in total peripheral resistance. Vasodilating drugs, such as calcium channel antagonists, have proven to be effective in controlling ISH in elderly patients.

[Prevention of atrial fibrillation in hypertensive patients].

A large percentage of patients with hypertension suffer from atrial fibrillation (AF). The presence of hypertension increases the risk of AF, which in turn aggravates hypertension. The ability of drugs to interfere with specific signal transduction pathways easing the presence of AF in hypertensive patients is promising.

Determination of arterial compliance using blood pressure waveform analysis with the CR-2000 system: Reliability, repeatability, and establishment of normal values for healthy European population--the seven European sites study (SESS).

Background: We determined the reliability and repeatability of measurements of arterial compliance (AC) and gender- and age-specific normal ranges for a healthy European population.

Methods: Three hundred eight healthy volunteers from seven sites were evaluated. Two measurements were taken during the first visit, repeated on a second visit 1 to 4 weeks later.
