Objectives: to compare the effectiveness of the decentralized automated drug dispensing system with pockets.

Methods: an effectiveness study based on a systematic review guided by the question: for patients admitted to hospital units, is the use of automated drug dispensing effective for reducing medication errors when compared to manual unit dose dispensing? Recent evidence has demonstrated that slow responders may benefit from antiviral treatment in HCV/HIV coinfection. This study aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of HCV treatment in individuals with genotype 1 coinfected with HIV, with peg-interferon in combination with ribavirin, compared to the inclusion (versus non-inclusion) of slow responders. A Markov model was developed that simulated the progression of liver disease in a hypothetical cohort of one thousand men over 40 years of age, considering the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SUS) perspective and a 30-year timeline.

Purpose: To investigate changes in cardiac functional parameters and the cardiac expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1), procollagen type I (proc-I) and transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1) in rats irradiated at heart.

Material And Methods: Male Wistar rats were irradiated with a single dose of radiation (0, 5, 10 and 15 Gray [Gy]) delivered directly to the heart and the molecular evaluations were performed at various times post-irradiation (two days, 15 days and four months). The expression of ACE, AT1, proc-I and TGF-ß1 were analysed using Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and/or Western blotting.
