Introduction: Bisphosphonates are commonly used to prevent osteoporotic fractures. Many randomized controlled trials have proved the efficacy of bisphosphonates, showing their ability to increase bone mineral density and decrease the risk of hip and vertebral fractures. Atypical, bisphosphonate-related fractures concerning the femur have been widely described and a list of primary and secondary clinical and radiographic criteria are used in order to achieve diagnosis.

These segments may represent an innovative target for the development of targeted therapies.
Methods: A specific V segment of the TCR beta chain (TRBV5-1) was analyzed using bioinformatic tools, identifying three potential antigenic peptides.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is highly prevalent and associated with a significant impact on individuals' well-being. Initial management involves various medications, but their benefits can be limited by side effects, particularly concerning young people. In this context, novel and better-tolerated therapeutic strategies have been proposed, thus including the modulation of the gut microbiome through probiotic ingestion.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLactoferrin (Lf) is a positively charged iron-binding glycoprotein that has piqued the scientific community's interest due to its pleiotropic behavior, exhibiting a wide range of biological activities, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anticancer effects. This narrative review explores the current understanding of Lf's role in cancer, focusing on the endogenously expressed human full-length and ΔLf isoforms, and the effects of treatment with exogenous human and bovine Lf. We evaluated and compared the mechanisms by which Lf influences tumorigenesis and cancer progression, focusing on its impact on key processes such as cell growth, apoptosis, angiogenesis, cell migration, and invasiveness.

A total of 16 patients with humeral shaft fracture involving the metaphyseal proximal part were treated between Dicembrer 2016 and January 2023. Complications such as pseudarthrosis, infections and nerve lesions were investigated during the postoperative period.

For example, T cells interact with antigen-presenting cells (APCs) through specific T-cell receptor (TCR)-antigen interactions during an immune response. Fluorescence-activated droplet sorting (FADS) is a high-throughput technique for efficiently screening cellular interaction events.

While traditionally attributed to chronic wear and tear, recent evidence highlights multifactorial pathogenesis involving low-grade inflammation and neoangiogenesis. Current therapeutic options include physical therapy, pharmacotherapy, and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

The aim of this study was to investigate the usefulness of longitudinal muscle MRI in detecting disease activity and progression in DM1, and to better characterize muscle edema, fat replacement and atrophy overtime.
Materials And Methods: This is a prospective, observational, longitudinal study including 25 DM1 patients that performed at least two muscle MRIs.
Background And Purpose: Various electrodiagnostic criteria have been developed in Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Their performance in a broad representation of GBS patients has not been evaluated. Motor conduction data from the International GBS Outcome Study (IGOS) cohort were used to compare two widely used criterion sets and relate these to diagnostic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis criteria.

These techniques have been applied to strawberry cultivation in the past with limited success. To build on this past work, in this study, two separate sets of strawberry images, along with their associated diseases, were collected and subjected to resizing and augmentation.

Our study aimed to explore the relations between sNfL and small fiber related skin biopsy and quantitative sensory testing (QST) parameters in a cohort of ATTRv-PN patients and pre-symptomatic carriers.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 13 ATTRv patients and 21 pre-symptomatic carriers who underwent sNfL dosage, skin biopsy, and QST, and analyzed correlations between sNFL, intraepidermal nerve fiber density (IENFD), and cold (CDT) and warm detection thresholds (WDT).
A strong correlation between the occurrence of various pathological conditions and intestinal dysbiosis is supported by a range of strong evidence. Vice versa, many pathologies have been shown, in turn, to be responsible for alterations in the gut microbiota, a condition that can worsen illness outcomes and response to therapies. For these reasons, great efforts have been made, and studies are still ongoing, to elucidate the mechanisms underlying gut microbiota alterations and to search for pharmacologic or other strategies that can effectively restore the gut microbiota.

Given the association of Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) with Guillain Barrè syndrome, we conducted a case-control study to determine the possible association of HEV infection with CIDP, analyzing possible risk factors for acquiring HEV infection in both CIDP patients and controls.
Materials And Methods: 82 CIDP and 260 from the general population have provided some personal information (demographics, anamnestic data and recognized risk factors for HEV infection) and underwent venipuncture blood sampling for virological assays testing for anti-HEV IgG and IgM with ELISA and RNA-HEV performing RT-PCR.
Background And Purpose: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic criteria, ancillary investigations and treatment response using real-life data in multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) patients.
Methods: Clinical and laboratory data were collected from 110 patients enrolled in the Italian MMN database through a structured questionnaire. Twenty-six patients were excluded due to the unavailability of nerve conduction studies or the presence of clinical signs and symptoms and electrodiagnostic abnormalities inconsistent with the MMN diagnosis.
Objective: To test the complement inhibitor eculizumab in the treatment of MG exacerbation during therapy with the immune-checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) pembrolizumab, avoiding its discontinuation, which could be detrimental to oncologic course.
Methods: A 76-year-old male with non-thymomatous generalized anti-AchR + MG (MGFA class IVB), during treatment with pembrolizumab for colorectal cancer, developed a severe myasthenic exacerbation, refractory to steroids and IvIg. Eculizumab was started, without pembrolizumab discontinuation.
