Redox and Calcium Alterations of a Müller Cell Line Exposed to Diabetic Retinopathy-Like Environment.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common complication of diabetes mellitus and is the major cause of vision loss in the working-age population. Although DR is traditionally considered a microvascular disease, an increasing body of evidence suggests that neurodegeneration is an early event that occurs even before the manifestation of vasculopathy. Accordingly, attention should be devoted to the complex neurodegenerative process occurring in the diabetic retina, also considering possible functional alterations in non-neuronal cells, such as glial cells.

Biopharmaceutical innovation ecosystems: a stakeholder model and the case of Lombardy.

The purpose of this paper is to examine biopharma innovation ecosystems (IEs) through the lenses of a stakeholder model. In doing so, this work aims to answer the following research question: which stakeholders are required in an IE within biopharma industry and what are their main roles in the IE value creation. The research strategy was designed according to the grounded theory methodology.

Design of transfections: Implementation of design of experiments for cell transfection fine tuning.

Transfection is the process by which nucleic acids are introduced into eukaryotic cells. This is fundamental in basic research for studying gene function and modulation of gene expression as well as for many bioprocesses in the manufacturing of clinical-grade recombinant biologics from cells. Transfection efficiency is a critical parameter to increase biologics' productivity; the right protocol has to be identified to ensure high transfection efficiency and therefore high product yield.
