As bendamustine causes prolonged lymphopenia and the literature lacks evidence of its persistence in patients with MCL, this retrospective analysis aims to estimate the lymphocyte recovery time, also in view of potential immunotherapy with CAR-T cells. Data were collected from 44 consecutive MCL patients who received bendamustine (BR or R-BAC) as first-line therapy at the Hematology Unit of Sapienza University Hospital between May 2011 and April 2022.

Research suggested that the dynamics of the aggregation of Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) into AQP4-OAP isoforms can trigger cell shape changes in malignant glioma cells. Here, we investigated the relationship between AQP4 and some K channels in the malignant glioma U87 line.

Additionally, some flavonoids show prebiotic abilities, promoting the growth and activity of beneficial gut bacteria. This study investigates the protective impact of Lens culinaris extract (LE), which is abundant in flavonoids, on intestinal mucosal integrity during LPS-induced inflammation.

We conducted a monocentric observational study aimed at evaluating the vaccine safety and the pharmaceutical service provided at a community pharmacy (C.PHARM) in the Puglia Region in the period from 29 December 2021 to 12 March 2022 using data from 550 patients of various ages and sexes and with concomitant diseases. We collected anamnestic data, the number of hospitalizations, and any post-vaccination adverse reactions.

Yet, for brown adipose tissue (BAT), these measurements would enable direct monitoring of its thermogenic activity and its association with metabolic health.
Methods: Here, we report direct measurement of absolute BAT temperature in humans during cold exposure by magnetic resonance (MR) with laser polarized xenon gas.
: Neurological symptoms (NS) in COVID-19 are related to both acute stage and long-COVID. We explored levels of brain injury biomarkers (NfL and GFAP) and myeloid activation marker (sCD163) and their implications on the CNS. In hospitalized COVID-19 patients plasma samples were collected at two time points: on hospital admission (baseline) and three months after hospital discharge (Tpost).

Methods: In vitro flexibility tests were performed on six fresh-frozen human cadaveric spines (T1-L5) (2 M, 4F) with a median age of 63 (59-to-80). An ± 8 Nm load was applied to determine range of motion (ROM) in flexion-extension (FE), lateral bending (LB), and axial rotation (AR) in the thoracic and lumbar spine.
We evaluated the effects of a new extract (70% acetonitrile, 2E0217022196DIPFARMTDA) of Lens culinaris Medik (Terre di Altamura SRL, Altamura BA) to prevent cytotoxic damage from cisplatin, staurosporine, irinotecan, doxorubicin, and the glucocorticoid dexamethasone. The acetonitrile-water extract (range 0.1-5 mg/mL) was obtained by extracting 10 g of lentil flour with 50 milliliters of the acetonitrile-water extraction mixture in a 70:30 ratio, first for 3 h and then overnight in a shaker at room temperature.

BPs target the farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase (FPPS) in osteoclasts, reducing bone resorption. Lately, there has been an increasing interest in BPs direct pro-survival/pro-mineralizing properties in osteoblasts and their pain-relieving effects.

For instance, one of the many ramifications of the COVID-19 global pandemic has been to make even more evident the importance of having bioinformatics tools and data readily actionable by researchers through convenient access points and supported by adequate IT infrastructures. One of the most successful efforts in improving the availability and usability of bioinformatics tools and data is represented by the Galaxy workflow manager and its thriving community.

Here, we describe the design of a low-cost multinuclear NMR spectrometer operating in the ultra-low field regime (ULF), which possesses high spectral resolution and enables arbitrary pulse programming. An inexpensive multifunction input/output (I/O) device is used to handle waveform generation and digitization in the kHz operating range.

Changes in deformity during natural curve progression may be subtle. An important preemptive question to answer is whether topography can follow a large change in spine deformity, as in scoliosis correction.

Methods: Ten participants with stable CF and a baseline FEV1 > 70% completed a single imaging session where dynamic F and single breath Xe lung ventilation images were acquired on a 3T MRI scanner. Ventilation defect percentages (VDP) values between F early-breath, F maximum-ventilation, Xe low-resolution, and Xe high-resolution images were compared.
Background: While the popular workflow manager Galaxy is currently made available through several publicly accessible servers, there are scenarios where users can be better served by full administrative control over a private Galaxy instance, including, but not limited to, concerns about data privacy, customisation needs, prioritisation of particular job types, tools development, and training activities. In such cases, a cloud-based Galaxy virtual instance represents an alternative that equips the user with complete control over the Galaxy instance itself without the burden of the hardware and software infrastructure involved in running and maintaining a Galaxy server.
Results: We present Laniakea, a complete software solution to set up a "Galaxy on-demand" platform as a service.
Study Design: Case report (review of patient records, imaging, and pulmonary function tests) and literature review.
Objectives: To describe the case of a skeletally immature patient with Marfan syndrome who underwent anterior scoliosis correction (ASC) and muscle-sparing posterior far lateral interbody fusion (FLIF) in a two-stage procedure to correct progressive severe double major scoliosis and spondylolisthesis. Patients with Marfan syndrome suffer from rapidly progressive scoliosis and spondylolisthesis.
Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a type of fat specialized in non-shivering thermogenesis. While non-shivering thermogenesis is mediated primarily by uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), the development of the UCP1 knockout mouse has enabled the study of possible UCP1-independent non-shivering thermogenic mechanisms, whose existence has been shown so far only indirectly in white adipose tissue and still continues to be a matter of debate in BAT. In this study, by using magnetic resonance thermometry with hyperpolarized xenon, we produce the first direct evidence of UCP1-independent BAT thermogenesis in knockout mice.
