Background: Due to the several interconnected crises that Lebanon has been facing for the past 4 years, many important social and environmental issues have been overlooked until more "pressing" ones are dealt with. Consequently, water pollution in Lebanon continues to worsen.

Aim: This study aimed to describe the microbiological and chemical properties of the 10 main rivers in Lebanon and to assess their suitability for irrigation, while exploring some of the solutions to the problem.

Background: Several endoscopic treatments for iatrogenic perforations are currently available, with some limitations in terms of size, location, complexity, or cost. Our aims were to introduce a novel technique for closure, using an endoloop and clips, to assess its rate of technical success and post-resection complications.

Methods: For closure of large perforations (diameter ≥ 10 mm), two similar techniques were implemented, using a single-channel endoscope.

Background And Aims: The endoscopic workup of dysphagia can lead to the diagnosis of atypical esophagitis, with thickened esophageal mucosa, strictures, mucosal exudates, furrows, and sloughing. While these aspects suggest eosinophilic esophagitis, pathology might not report the presence of eosinophils, but rather chronic inflammation, with spongiosis, parakeratosis, and lymphocytic infiltrate. We aimed to report the management of this disease and assess the prevalence of associated dermatological conditions.

Sarcopenia, defined as decreased muscle mass and strength, can be evaluated by a computed tomography (CT) examination and might be associated with reduced survival in patients with carcinoma. The prognosis of patients with metastatic pancreatic carcinoma is poor. The FOLFIRINOX (a combination of 5-fluorouracil, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin) chemotherapy regimen is a validated first-line treatment option.

Introduction: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most prescribed classes of drugs worldwide as a first-line treatment of acid-related disorders. Although adverse effects are rare and rapidly reversible after a short exposure, concerns have been recently raised about a greater toxicity on cardiovascular health after a longer exposure, especially when combined with clopidogrel. We aimed to evaluate the safety of long-term PPI use on cardiovascular health in patients with known atheromatous cardiovascular disease.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) usually occurs in the setting of liver cirrhosis and more rarely in a healthy liver. Its incidence has increased in the past years, especially in western countries with the rising prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The prognosis of advanced HCC is low.

Background: Myringotomy with trans-tympanic T-tube (TTT) placement is the most common surgical procedure performed in children. Finding a technique that provides longer aeration periods, lower complications rates, and less need for subsequent interventions will help the healthcare system from preventable events.

Objectives: To compare the efficiency and complications rates of the traditional TTT to those of the novel postero-superior tubes in a grooved bone (TGB) for long-term middle ear ventilation in children suffering from recurrent acute otitis media (RAOM), or chronic otitis media with effusion (COME).

Background: Gastric linitis plastica (GLP) is a diffuse infiltrating type of gastric adenocarcinoma. It is associated with a poor prognosis and a five-year survival of 3-10%. The infiltrating profile of this tumor explains the low yield of the superficial mucosal biospies.
