Train the trainer course for general practice trainers in ambulatory care: the Berlin model.

Demands for a stronger competence orientation of specialty postgraduate medical training require the expansion of the didactic qualifications of those responsible for postgraduate medical training. In the context of the foundation of the Berlin competence center for postgraduate general practice training, a train the trainer basic seminar was designed together with the Berlin chamber of physicians. The seminar aims to convey formal-legal aspects in close connection with the development of didactic competences of the general practice trainers.

A study on viral CNS inflammation beyond herpes encephalitis.

The early diagnosis of herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSVE) enables induction of antiviral therapy in this potentially life-threatening disease. The study aimed to determine clinical findings including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) data and MRI imaging in HSVE patients and to identify features distinguishing HSVE from encephalitis of other viral etiologies. We retrospectively reviewed consecutive patients who were diagnosed with viral encephalitis between 2000 and 2014 at the University Hospital Halle.

A key element in the regulation of mammalian steroid biosynthesis is the 18 kDa peripheral-type benzodiazepine receptor (PBR), which mediates mitochondrial cholesterol import. PBR also possess an affinity to the tetrapyrrole metabolite protoporphyrin. The bacterial homolog to the mammalian PBR, the Rhodobacter TspO (CrtK) protein, was shown to be involved in the bacterial tetrapyrrole metabolism.
