Mental health conditions are common, disabling, potentially life-threatening, and costly; however, they are mostly treatable with early detection and intervention. Unfortunately, mental healthcare is in significantly short supply both nationally and locally, and particularly in small, rural, and relatively isolated communities. This article provides physicians and other health practitioners with a primer on the basic rationale and principles of integrating behavioral healthcare - particularly psychiatric specialty care - in primary care settings, including effective use of teleconferencing.

Objective: To investigate the executive function among adolescents with antipsychotic-treated schizophrenia in Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Jakarta.
Methods: This was a cross sectional study with control group. Case was defined as adolescents with antipsychotic-treated schizophrenia without any mental retardation or other physical illnesses (n=45).
Objective: In the interest of finding "teaching moments in film" for psychiatric education and education on child development, the author describes an approach to analyzing Disney--and potentially other children's films--based on specifically observing family structure at the beginning and ending of the story, developmental stage and gender of the protagonist, the developmental crisis, and the external change agent and/or stressor.
Methods: The author considered a convenience sample of ten popular Disney films.
Results: A wide variety of family structures and developmental stages and challenges were observed in the reviewed films.
Objective: Recent pediatric studies have suggested a correlation between decreased amygdala volume and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms, including the emotional dysregulation. To investigate the hypothesis that medication treatment of ADHD specifically improves amygdala function, we used (1)H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to study the effect of 12 weeks of treatment with daily 20 mg long-acting methylphenidate on the Glu/Cr, NAA/Cr, Cho/Cr, and mI/Cr ratios in the amygdala of medication-naïve children with ADHD.

Introduction: Continent-based regional reviews of mental health may not fully describe the status of ethnocultural groups that are widely dispersed across multiple continents or traditional world regions. Our aim was to describe the Austronesians, an ethno-linguistic group living primarily in islands and coastal areas in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and Southeast Asia.
Methods: Consulting lay databases, we created matrices to describe the demographic, political, and socioeconomic profiles of nations with majority and minority indigenous Austronesian language-speaking populations.
Background: In an integrated curriculum such as problem-based learning (PBL), students need to develop a number of learning skills and competencies. These cannot be achieved through memorization of factual knowledge but rather through the development of a wide range of cognitive and noncognitive skills that enhance deep learning.
Aim: The aim of this article is to provide students and teachers with learning approaches and learning strategies that enhance deep learning.
Background: One of the key elements for introducing a problem-based learning (PBL) programme is constructing good PBL cases. Good cases should reflect the educational principles of PBL including (a) integration of basic and clinical sciences together with professionalism and psychosocial components, (b) encouragement of discussion of cognitive domains such as identification of problems, generation of hypotheses, construction of an enquiry plan, weighing evidence for and against each hypothesis, interpretation of findings, construction of mechanisms, using evidence to refine the hypothesis and construction of a management plan, (c) encouragement of discussion of cases in small groups with an emphasis on student-centred learning, (d) promotion of collaborative learning and contribution of students to the case discussion and (e) encouragement of teamwork and self-directed learning strategies.
Aims And Methods: Despite the importance of construction of good PBL cases to the success of a PBL programme, the art of construction of these cases is understudied or described in the literature.

Background: Among Filipino youth in Hawai'i, low Filipino cultural identification and low family support may be important risk factors for delinquency.
Aims: To examine, in a sample of Filipino youth in Hawai'i, correlations between delinquent behaviour and the aforementioned - as well as other, potentially mediating - variables.
Methods: A youth risk survey and Filipino Culture Scale were administered to Filipino students (N = 150) in Hawai'i.
A 9-year-old boy in Hawai'i presented with bleeding and thrombocytopenia and was subsequently found to have post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. He recovered completely with intravenous immune globulin, antibiotics, short-term antihypertensive therapy, and supportive management. This case was similar to the 5 cases previously reported in the literature, with the exception that steroids were not used as the primary immune-modulating therapy.

The literature is reviewed, indicating that serious complications, while rare, are possible. The author recommends that clinicians structure assessments of centipede bites around knowledge of serious potential complications and provide counseling on prevention of future attacks.
