Surgeon administered transversus abdominis plane block: anatomic principles and technique.

The Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) block is a regional abdominal wall block that has been effectively used as an adjunct to alleviate postoperative pain. The ultrasound-guided TAP (USTAP) administered by anesthesiologists is the gold standard and has been effective for surgeries involving abdominal wall incisions. Recently, the TAP block has been administered by surgeons with the help of direct visualization during minimally invasive surgery.

Students tend to think of their science courses as isolated and unrelated to each other, making it difficult for them to see connections across disciplines. In addition, many existing science assessments target rote memorization and algorithmic problem-solving skills. Here, we describe the development, implementation, and evaluation of an activity aimed to help students integrate knowledge across introductory chemistry and biology courses.
