Purpose: To evaluate whether adult and pediatric trauma center status, as well as the presence of dedicated child protection teams, influences radiology resident performance in detecting non-accidental trauma on the Emergent/Critical Care Imaging Simulation (WIDI SIM) exam.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 639 WIDI SIM exam scores for four pediatric non-accidental trauma cases completed by radiology residents across 33 programs. Polyethyleneimine (PEI) has been reported to have good potential for the adsorption of metal ions. A synthetic lethal relationship exists between disruption of polymerase theta (Polθ), and loss of either 53BP1 or homologous recombination (HR) proteins, including BRCA1; however, the mechanistic basis of these observations are unclear. Here we reveal two distinct mechanisms of Polθ synthetic lethality, identifying dual influences of 1) whether Polθ is lost or inhibited, and 2) the underlying susceptible genotype. Firstly, we find that the sensitivity of BRCA1/2- and 53BP1-deficient cells to Polθ loss, and 53BP1-deficient cells to Polθ inhibition (ART558) requires RAD52, and appropriate reduction of RAD52 can ameliorate these phenotypes.

Purpose: High-throughput screening (HTS) platforms have been widely used to identify candidate anticancer drugs and drug-drug combinations; however, HTS-based identification of new drug-ionizing radiation (IR) combinations has rarely been reported. Herein, we developed an integrated approach including cell-based HTS and computational large-scale isobolographic analysis to accelerate the identification of radiosensitizing compounds acting strongly and more specifically on cancer cells.
