Purpose: To determine size of ablation zone and pulmonary hemorrhage in double-freeze (DF) vs modified triple-freeze (mTF) cryoablation protocols with different probe sizes in porcine lung.

Materials And Methods: In 10 healthy adult pigs, 20 pulmonary cryoablations were performed using either a 2.4-mm or a 1.

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common and feared result of deep vein thrombosis. While anticoagulation is the mainstay of management, interruption of flow of thrombus from leg veins to the pulmonary circulation is frequently desired either in lieu of or in addition to anticoagulation. Inferior vena cava filters have become frequently used to prevent PE despite a paucity of evidence for efficacy and increasing concerns about the long-term complications of indwelling filters.

Purpose: To describe initial single-center experience with a thrombectomy device in managing right atrial and caval thrombi, tumors, and vegetations.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of AngioVac thrombectomy performed in 16 patients (mean age 53 y ± 13; 8 men, 8 women) between August 2013 and August 2015 was performed. Indications included right atrial mass/thrombus (6/16; 37.

Five consecutive cases in which the AngioVac aspiration cannula was used for the management of pulmonary embolism (PE) were retrospectively reviewed. Four cases (80%) presented with massive PE, and two (40%) were technically successful (reduction in Miller index ≥ 5). Four patients (80%) died at a mean of 7.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of an ultralow-porosity expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) covered stent in the treatment of autogenous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and prosthetic arteriovenous graft (AVG) venous outflow stenoses.

Materials And Methods: Clinical and angiographic outcomes of 20 consecutive patients with arteriovenous dialysis circuits treated with the endoprosthesis were reviewed following institutional review board approval. Patients were followed routinely at 2 months and 6 months after stent placement, or earlier if clinically warranted.

Pharmaceutical processes are complex and highly variable in nature. The complexity and variability associated with these processes result in inconsistent and sometimes unpredictable process outcomes. To deal with the complexity and understand the causes of variability in these processes, in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of the process and the various factors affecting the process performance become critical.

A 44-year-old woman underwent uncomplicated uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) for menstrual and bulk-related symptoms in an enlarged, myomatous uterus. After surgery, she spontaneously sloughed a large mass of fibroids that arrested in the cervical canal during passage. Four days after gynecological extraction, she developed copious vaginal discharge that contained enteric contents.

Rationale And Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the implementation of a digital anatomy lecture series based largely on annotated, radiographic images and the utility of the Radiological Society of North America-developed Medical Imaging Resource Center (MIRC) for providing an online educational resource.

Materials And Methods: A series of digital teaching images were collected and organized to correspond to lecture and dissection topics. MIRC was used to provide the images in a Web-based educational format for incorporation into anatomy lectures and as a review resource.

The authors present the case of an infant harboring a vein of Galen arteriovenous malformation with conspicuous cerebral calcifications that progressively regressed after staged endovascular obliteration of the lesion. The role of venous hypertension and hydrocephalus secondary to the arteriovenous shunt are discussed to explain the formation and regression of the cerebral calcifications.

Background: The Blalock-Taussig shunt (BTS) remains valuable for palliation of congenital heart disease, but its role has evolved. We reviewed our total institutional experience with BTS to examine changes in its use and outcomes.

Methods: A retrospective review was performed of all patients undergoing BTS at our institution from November 1944 to May 2006.
