Evolving utility of exosomes in pancreatic cancer management.

Despite the development of newer oncological treatment, the survival of patients with pancreatic cancer (PC) remains poor. Recent studies have identified exosomes as essential mediators of intercellular communications and play a vital role in tumor initiation, metastasis and chemoresistance. Thus, the utility of liquid biopsies using exosomes in PC management can be used for early detection, diagnosis, monitoring as well as drug delivery vehicles for cancer therapy.

Anthropogenic interventions on land neutrality in a critically vulnerable estuarine island ecosystem: a case of Munro Island (India).

All landscapes, including estuarine islands, normally try to restore their geomorphic isostasy in all anthropogenic interventions on land dynamics. Munroe Island has been experiencing drastic environmental degradation, such as land subsidence, severe tidal/monsoon flooding, subsidence of build-ups and a drastic decay in agricultural productivity. This paper examines the role of anthropo-geomorphic interventions causing for the land degradation in Munroe Island through a multidisciplinary approach.

Dysphagia Lusoria: A Rare Cause of Adult Dysphagia.

Dysphagia lusoria is an unusual condition characterized by difficulty swallowing secondary to compression of the esophagus by the aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA). It occurs due to embryologic anomalies of the brachial arches, which are often unrecognized. Dysphagia is the prime presenting symptom in the majority, in addition to the other tracheoesophageal symptoms.

Significance of serum carcinoembryonic antigen in metastatic breast cancer patients: A prospective study.

Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is an important serum tumour marker with a substantial role in diagnosis and monitoring of various solid tumours. About 36%-70% of breast cancers have elevated serum CEA. And the available studies show discrepancy in addressing the prognostic significance of CEA in advanced breast cancer.

Taxane-induced acute interstitial pneumonitis in patients with breast cancer and outcome of taxane rechallenge.

Background: Although rare, taxane-induced interstitial pneumonitis is a well-recognized toxicity following chemotherapy. Data on taxane rechallenge in patients who developed taxane-induced interstitial pneumonitis following chemotherapy are limited. Here, we share our experience of acute interstitial pneumonitis following taxane chemotherapy for breast cancer and its clinical outcome following steroids and subsequent rechallenge with taxanes in selected patients without residual lung abnormalities on imaging following steroid treatment.

Primary splenic sarcoidosis.

Here we report a case of primary splenic sarcoidosis presenting with isolated splenomegaly with multiple splenic nodules. The sarcoidosis was diagnosed and treated by splenectomy.

Gastric adenocarcinoma with prostatic metastasis.

Metastasis of gastric adenocarcinoma to the prostate gland is extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of gastric adenocarcinoma in a 56-year-old man with prostatic metastasis diagnosed through the analysis of biopsy specimens from representative lesions in the stomach and prostate gland. Immunohistochemistry of the prostatic tissue showed positive staining for cytokeratin 7 and negative staining for prostate-specific antigen (PSA), whereas the serum PSA level was normal, confirming the diagnosis of prostatic metastasis from carcinoma of the stomach.
