Physicochemical and structural characteristics of chitosan prepared from Deep-sea shrimp (DCs), including degree of deacetylation (DD), molecular weight (Mw), viscosity, crystallinity index (CrI) and surface morphology were compared with a commercial chitosan (CCs). The DCs had a higher DD of 81.33 ± 0.

Three fundamental assumptions must be satisfied in order for analytical results to be accurate: local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE), optically thin plasma, and stoichiometric ablation. But real-life plasma often fails to satisfy these conditions, especially the optical thinness of plasma, resulting in the reabsorption of emitted radiation called self-absorption.

The apparent viscosity values of the nano-mud samples are measured using a high-pressure high-temperature viscometer at different shear rates, working based on a rotor and bob technique.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTandem running is a primitive recruitment method employed by many ant genera. This study characterizes this behaviour during the recruitment of colony mates to a new nest in an Indian ant . Tandem leaders who have knowledge of the new nest lead a single follower at a time, to the destination by maintaining physical contact.

The morphology of the surface structures formed in the annular crater surface allows direct visualization of the beam polarization, while analysis of the crater size provides beam spot parameters. We also determine the diverse threshold fluences for the formation of various complex microstructures generated within the annular laser spot on the silicon sample.

So, other environmental factors and host genetic background may play an important role in the development of cervical cancer. HPV carries a minimal amount of structural and regulatory proteins so it is apparently dependent on its host for survival.

Social species encounter another level of complexity, wherein inputs from multiple individuals have to be consolidated to yield a consensus. One platform on which decision making can be examined is the relocation of animal societies.

Smart polymers have enormous potential in various applications. In particular, smart polymeric drug delivery systems have been explored as "intelligent" delivery systems able to release, at the appropriate time and site of action, entrapped drugs in response to specific physiological triggers. These polymers exhibit a non-linear response to a small stimulus leading to a macroscopic alteration in their structure/properties.

Aim: The current study was aimed to investigate the feasibility of transdermal delivery of cromolyn sodium using a novel lipid vesicular carrier, ethosomes.
Materials And Methods: Ethosomes of cromolyn sodium was prepared, optimized, and characterized for vesicle shape, vesicle size and size distribution, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency, in vitro drug release, in vitro skin permeation, in vitro skin deposition and vesicle stability. Histological examination of porcine ear skin treated with optimized ethosomal formulation was performed to study the change of skin morphologies.

Colloidal suspensions of nano-sized particles in a base fluid, nanofluids, have recently gained popularity as cooling fluids mainly due to their enhanced heat transfer capabilities. However, there is controversy in the literature on the reported properties of nanofluids and their applicability, especially since there is no fundamental understanding that explains these enhancements. A better understanding of these fluids and how they interact with a solid boundary may be achieved by a detailed near-wall fluid flow study at nanoscale.

Periodontal pockets act as a natural reservoir filled with gingival crevicular fluid for the controlled release delivery of antimicrobials directly. This article reflects the present status of nonsurgical controlled local intrapocket delivery of antimicrobials in the treatment of periodontitis. These sites have specialty in terms of anatomy, permeability, and their ability to retain a delivery system for a desired length of time.

In this paper, we suggest two new methods to handle lateral truncation in helical scan CT. It is seen that reconstruction with laterally truncated projection data, assuming it to be complete, gives severe artifacts which even penetrates into the field of view.

In this paper, we address the reconstruction problem from laterally truncated helical cone-beam projections. The reconstruction problem from lateral truncation, though similar to that of interior radon problem, is slightly different from it as well as the local (lambda) tomography and pseudo-local tomography in the sense that we aim to reconstruct the entire object being scanned from a region-of-interest (ROI) scan data. The method proposed in this paper is a projection data completion approach followed by the use of any standard accurate FBP type reconstruction algorithm.
