The effect of salt stress (150 mM NaCl) on the expression of genes, methylation of their promoters, and enzymatic activity of glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH), glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), and the 2-oxoglutarate (2-OG)-dehydrogenase (2-OGDH) complex was studied in maize ( L.). GDH activity increased continuously under salt stress, being 3-fold higher after 24 h.

Materials And Methods: 37 patients with different clinical forms of erysipelas were examined in the acute period of the disease and in the early period of convalescence.
Results: A statistically significant increase in T1 NMR was ascertained in patients with bullous hemorrhagic erysipelas as compared with those with erythematous form.
The article presents findings from examination of 15 patients with cirrhosis of the liver complicated by encephalopathy. A study was made into the blood content of aminoacids and ammonia, which levels were found to have been raised in cirrhotic patients. The use of dufalac and nutriklinz dispelled clinical manifestations of encephalopathy normalizing the content of ammonia and modifying the aminoacid dysbalance at the expense of lowering of the blood concentration of cerebrotoxic aminoacids.

It is shown that against the background of treatment with the above drug patients dispelled the pain syndrome and manifestations of the maldigestion syndrome. The described drug made for normalization of the blood serum content of beta-lipoproteins.

Monitoring of intragastric pH in the body of the stomach throughout 24 hours in patients with peptic ulcer of duodenal location revealed significant acid-neutralizing effect of smekta. Patients with nonspecific ulcerous colitis enjoyed freedom of side effects as a result of the use of salofalk and derived full therapeutic benefit from this treatment.

Immunopathologically, an immunoglobulin in the nuclei of the majority of cells in the skin biopsy and blood cells was found against the background of the lack of SLE manifestations (antinuclear factor in the circulating blood, skin lesions, etc.).

The localization of bound IgG, IgA, IgM and component C3 of the complement in the focus of skin lesion in patients with different forms of erysipelas has been studied by the method of direct immunofluorescence. The presence of fixed immune complexes and component C3 in the affected areas of the skin at the acute period of the disease and their absence in the healthy areas of the skin have been established, which seems to be indicative of the presence of the local immunocomplex process in erysipelas. This process is one of the mechanisms of erysipelatous inflammation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctional and structural changes of the hepato-biliary system were assessed in 56 persons with different forms of chronic alcoholism. In patients with prenosological forms of chronic alcoholism despite the absence of clinical manifestations and functional disorders of the liver, phenomena of fatty infiltration of the liver were revealed by means of ultrasound examination. Patients with chronic alcoholism of grade II and III showed an increase of the activity of aminotransferases, increased values of the thymol test, hypoalbuminemia, disorders of lipid metabolism.

The cholate-forming function of the liver was found to increase in patients with short alcohol anamnesis in chronic alcoholism. With advance of the alcohol anamnesis the number of patients with reduced cholate-forming function of the liver increased.

The patients revealed different degrees of disorders in the content of bile acids, their fractions, bile cholesterol as well as a dependence of these changes of the type of operation. The changes were more pronounced in patients undergoing selective proximal vagotomy as compared with those undergoing selective proximal vagotomy with pyloroplasty.

In 11% of healthy persons disorders of the biochemical composition of bile were revealed, namely reduction of the level of bile acids and phospholipids, 23% changes in the ratio of bile acids and phospholipid fractions.

It was established, that irrespective of the type of hyperlipoproteinemia in patients, the impairement in the cholate-forming and cholesterin-excreting functions of the liver was present. This aggravated the course of atherosclerosis.

For control, the sera of healthy donors were used. In the sera obtained from all groups of erysipelas patients a significant rise in the levels of antibodies to ribosomes and peptidoglycan in comparison with the controls was revealed.

The main advantage is that one can use only one optimal dilution of the sera together with the reference serum. Sera of 53 healthy volunteers and 77 patients with a history of Streptococcus group A infections were screened for the presence of polysaccharide A antibodies.
