Aims: This study aimed to give contemporary insight into the use of Impella and venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) in acute myocardial infarction-related cardiogenic shock (AMICS) and into associated outcomes, adverse events, and resource demands.

Aims: The haemodynamic effects of primary implantation of an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) versus inotropes in decompensated heart failure and low output (DHF-LO), but without an acute coronary syndrome, have not been investigated. Background: Recently, a chronic total occlusion (CTO) in a non-infarct-related artery (non-IRA) and not multivessel disease (MVD) alone was identified as an independent predictor of mortality after ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Although coronary artery bypass grafting remains an important therapeutic option for patients with complex coronary artery disease, percutaneous coronary intervention strategies have become an established alternative. Nevertheless, treatment options for surgery-ineligible patients with complex coronary artery disease used to be limited, especially in patients with a reduced left ventricular function.
