Management of veterinary anaesthesia in small animals: A survey of current practice in Quebec.

Objective: To describe how small animal anaesthesia is performed in French-speaking Eastern Canada, and the variations between practices, in particular based on practice type, veterinarian gender and experience.

Design: Observational study, survey.

Sample: 156 respondents.

Use of a novel surgical approach for treatment of complete bilateral membranous choanal atresia in an alpaca cria.

CASE DESCRIPTION A 4-hour-old 6.3-kg (13.9-lb) female alpaca cria was evaluated because of severe respiratory distress and difficulty nursing since birth.

A cardiac vascular hamartoma in a calf: ultrasonographic and pathologic images.

A right atrial mass was observed by ultrasound in a 3-month-old red Holstein calf. Differential diagnoses included endocarditis or tumor. Due to the poor prognosis, the calf was euthanized.
