Objectives: In about 10% of glioblastoma patients, preoperative MRI discloses the presence of tumor cysts. Whereas the impact of cystic appearance on prognosis has been discussed extensively, only little is known about the tumor cyst fluid. In this study, we tested the feasibility of the surface enhanced laser desorption ionization time of flight (SELDI-TOF) technique to detect cyst fluid proteins.

Introduction: We report the case of a 17-year-old girl with an indolent, smooth swelling of the left cranial vault that had been developing for 2 months. Complete surgical excision was performed and the defect was closed using artificial bone cement. The integrity of the dura mater was conserved and the patient recovered without neurological deficit.

Generally acknowledged prognostic factors and a standard therapy fail to exist.
Methods: Between 1975 and 2000 we diagnosed and treated 26 patients with an olfactory neuroblastoma.
