Cyanine-based near infra-red organic photoredox catalysis.

Direct metal-free near infra-red photoredox catalysis is applied to organic oxidation, photosensitization and reduction, involving cyanines as photocatalysts. This photocatalyst is competitive with conventional reactions catalyzed under visible light. Kinetic and quenching experiments are also reported.

Sequential Regioselective Diorganochalcogenations of Imidazo[1,2-]pyrimidines Using I/HPO in Dimethylsulfoxide.

The dichalcogenation of imidazoheterocycles led to the first functionalization of imidazo[1,2-]pyrimidine cores on the C6-position. The methodology, involving iodine/dimethylsulfoxide oxidation of diaryldichalcogenides, started with C3-chalcogenation, followed by C6 selanylation, activated in acidic medium. This novel sequential dichalcogenation strategy proceeded efficiently with excellent regioselectivity and yields.
