[Coronary angioplasty and coronary artery bypass surgery in older patients. Incidence, complications and mortality, 1999-2003].

Introduction: Persons over 70 years of age are the fastest-growing segment of the population. A major proportion of these elderly have ischemic heart disease and may need treatment. We describe the development of mechanical coronary revascularization in patients aged 70-79 years versus those 80 years of age or older over a five-year period.
