Inkjet printing offers a low-cost, high-throughput avenue for producing functional organic materials through rapid translation of desktop discoveries to industrial roll-to-roll processes. Here, we report a simple, but effective strategy to control droplet coalescence during inkjet printing, as a major variable, to tailor the nanoscale morphology of organic composite materials produced upon evaporation of all-liquid inks. During deposition, the spacing between ink droplets was controlled to systematically vary the extent of droplet coalescence.

Purpose: Physiologic gaze-evoked nystagmus (GEN) is one of many normal eye movements seen on the neurologic examination. GEN occurring at gaze angles >45 degrees is considered a positive sign in the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test (HGNT) used by United States police officers to determine alcohol intoxication.

Results: Subjects were directed to look at small targets on the wall in primary gaze and at 10 degrees intervals until they reached extreme gaze bilaterally.

Dynamic changes in physiologic systems have become an increasingly important topic in biomedical signal processing. To demonstrate a novel approach to this type of analysis, we recorded the cardiac and respiratory rhythms of six normal subjects over 5 minutes. We used cross-wavelet transforms to identify any correlations between these signals and then a unique approach to surrogate data generation in the frequency domain to confirm the statistical significance of the correlations that were found.
