[Patient-partnership in a comprehensive cancer centre: Establishment and roles of a patients and caregivers committee].

In oncology, the place of patients has a natural and strong legitimacy. Cancer is a common disease, with many singularities but also common features between pathologies, with issues ranging from prevention to possible palliative phases or post-cancer, and conducive to both individual and collective decision-making processes. Patient engagement is now essential at all levels of the healthcare system, from simple information to real involvement (co-construction).

Evaluation of the satisfaction and experiences of oncology patients and doctors using teleconsultation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Introduction: During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Gustave Roussy Cancer Center introduced teleconsultation via telephone, as an alternative to face-to-face consultation to reduce patient hospital visits. This study was designed to assess patient and doctor satisfaction with this modality of care in oncology patient care during the period of the pandemic and beyond.

Methods: We designed two questionnaires based on validated scores to assess satisfaction from teleconsultation in patients (EORTC OUT-PATSAT 35 and Telemedicine Satisfaction Questionnaire [TSQ] scores) and doctors (Telehealth Usability Questionnaire [TUQ]), and anxiety levels in both groups (anxiety section of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS], HADS-A).

Implementing a PROACTive Care Pathway to Empower and Support Survivors of Breast Cancer.

Purpose: Optimal comprehensive survivorship care is insufficiently delivered. To increase patient empowerment and maximize the uptake of multidisciplinary supportive care strategies to serve all survivorship needs, we implemented a proactive survivorship care pathway for patients with early breast cancer at the end of primary treatment phase.

Methods: Pathway components included (1) a personalized survivorship care plan (SCP), (2) face-to-face survivorship education seminars and personalized consultation for supportive care referrals (Transition Day), (3) a mobile app delivering personalized education and self-management advice, and (4) decision aids for physicians focused on supportive care needs.

[Implementation of a multimodal strategy for information and collection of advance directives in a comprehensive cancer center].

Introduction: In France, advance directives (AD) remain unknown and underused by healthcare users and professionals. This is particularly true in oncology. This work was carried out with patients and caregivers of a Comprehensive Cancer Center to improve their appropriation and information.

The role of oestrogen in determining sexual dimorphism in energy balance.

Energy balance is determined by caloric intake and the rate at which energy is expended, with the latter comprising resting energy expenditure, physical activity and adaptive thermogenesis. The regulation of both energy intake and expenditure exhibits clear sexual dimorphism, with young women being relatively protected against weight gain and the development of cardiometabolic diseases. Preclinical studies have indicated that females are more sensitive to the satiety effects of leptin and insulin compared to males.

Multicenter evaluation of breast cancer patients' satisfaction and experience with oncology telemedicine visits during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, teleconsultation was implemented in clinical practice to limit patient exposure to COVID-19 while monitoring their treatment and follow-up. We sought to examine the satisfaction of patients with breast cancer (BC) who underwent teleconsultations during this period.

Methods: Eighteen centres in France and Italy invited patients with BC who had at least one teleconsultation during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic to participate in a web-based survey that evaluated their satisfaction (EORTC OUT-PATSAT 35 and Telemedicine Satisfaction Questionnaire [TSQ] scores) with teleconsultation.

Ethical issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic in patients with cancer: experience and organisations in a French comprehensive cancer centre.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has aggressively reached the most vulnerable, not only the elderly but also patients with chronic conditions such as cancer. In this study, we present the outlines of ethical thinking and the measures implemented to try to respect our basic values of care, in the specific environment of an oncology hospital.

Methods: Our ethics committee created an ethical watch system based on 24/7 shifts to assist practitioners in their daily decisions.

The Ethics committee of Gustave Roussy cancer center is devoted to both reflection and action. The group has 40 members, professionals, patients and outside experts. These meet in plenary meetings or in specific working sessions and intervene at the request of any professional faced with ethical questions in the care.
