Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in psychiatric disorders by analyzing genomic data from a large group of subjects with and without mental health issues.
  • Researchers found 5 individuals with psychiatric symptoms who had a specific genomic deletion that included the BDNF gene, which was not present in unaffected controls.
  • The findings suggest that a partial loss of the BDNF region could be linked to various psychiatric conditions, such as anxiety and mood disorders.
