Background And Aims: A definitive cutoff of inferior venacava (IVC) diameter in expiration (dIVCmax) and inferior vena cava collapsibility index (IVCCI) for predicting general anaesthesia associated hypotension (GAAH) is not yet determined. Primary objective of this study was to determine the correlation of dIVCmax and IVCCI, with GAAH. Other objectives were to determine the correlation of these IVC parameters with preoperative fasting duration, temperature and humidity.

Internal fixation after subtrochanteric femoral fracture after hip resurfacing arthroplasty.

Periprosthetic fractures around total hip arthroplasty create surgical challenges with many described techniques of either fixation or revision. The increasing popularity of hip resurfacing arthroplasty poses different problems especially if there is a desire to retain the prosthesis rather than converting to a total hip arthroplasty. We describe a previously unreported technique of fixation for a comminuted, proximal femoral fracture, beneath a hip resurfacing.

Post partum osteomyelitis due to Cryptococcus neoformans.

We report a case of Cryptococcus neoformans in a pregnant woman whose initially mild symptoms of infection deteriorated after delivery. This is the first reported case of C. neoformans osteomyelitis in pregnancy.

The porcine forelimb as a model for human flexor tendon surgery.

Technical skills have been shown to transfer very well from bench models to practical use. The central two rays of 30 forelimbs of pigs were dissected and anatomical observations were made. The rays contained deep and superficial flexor tendons enclosed in a fibro-osseous tunnel and these were present in all 60 specimens.
