Change in hair texture with the use of pomalidomide for multiple myeloma: From straight to curly phenotype.

Introduction: Pomalidomide is used for treating multiple myeloma in patients who have relapsed after prior treatment with lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor. Common side effects include mild cytopenias, and deep vein thrombosis. While papulo-erythematous rash has been described, hair effects are rare with this class of agents.

Papillary Muscle Rupture in the Setting of Endocarditis.

Papillary muscle rupture is commonly linked to ischemic events, occurring typically postmyocardial infarction. However, iatrogenic and nonischemic etiologies can play a role in papillary muscle rupture, including infective endocarditis. The case presented herein is an 85-year-old female with a history of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), who presented with progressive dyspnea despite furosemide therapy, and was discovered to have a flail posterior mitral valve leaflet secondary to papillary muscle rupture associated with endocarditis.

Impact of Temperature Variation on Acute Myocardial Infarction in Karachi, Pakistan.

Introduction Environmental triggers of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) have gained mounting evidence from various geographies of the world. However, due to geographic variations in seasonal temperature and other metrological parameters, it is difficult to generalize the findings in one population to another population with different climatic conditions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the relationship between meteorological parameters and the number of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures for AMI at a tertiary care cardiac hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
