Elionurus muticus as an alternative source of citral from Pampa biome, Brazil.

Elionurus muticus is a grass from Pampa biome and it is an excellent alternative as natural source of citral in southern Brazil. The essential oil has a high citral level (80%) and presents variability for other important chemical compounds. The present studies indicated its cytotoxic effect against Artemia salina and also suggested its application in the control of pathogenic fungi.
