Since the start of the coronavirus-19 pandemic, the use of wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) for disease surveillance has increased throughout the world. Because wastewater measurements are affected by external factors, processing WBE data typically includes a normalization step in order to adjust wastewater measurements (e.g.

The explosion of sequence data has allowed the rapid growth of protein language models (pLMs). pLMs have now been employed in many frameworks including variant-effect and peptide-specificity prediction. Traditionally, for protein-protein or peptide-protein interactions (PPIs), corresponding sequences are either co-embedded followed by post-hoc integration or the sequences are concatenated prior to embedding.

Public health decisions must be made about when and how to implement interventions to control an infectious disease epidemic. These decisions should be informed by data on the epidemic as well as current understanding about the transmission dynamics. Such decisions can be posed as statistical questions about scientifically motivated dynamic models.

Article Synopsis
  • Modern multiomic technologies can create complex profiles, but challenges like data variability and irrelevant information make analyzing these high-dimensional datasets difficult.
  • SLIDE is a new machine learning method that can identify important interactions in omic data without relying on specific assumptions, ensuring reliable results with controlled false discovery rates.
  • By using SLIDE on single-cell and spatial omic data, researchers found significant biological insights that surpass what existing methods provide, making it a powerful tool for biological research.

Circadian rhythms regulate adaptive alterations in mammalian physiology and are maximally entrained by the short wavelength blue spectrum; cataracts block the transmission of light, particularly blue light. Cataract surgery is performed with two types of intraocular lenses (IOL): (1) conventional IOL that transmit the entire visible spectrum and (2) blue-light-filtering (BF) IOL that block the short wavelength blue spectrum. We hypothesized that the transmission properties of IOL are associated with long-term survival.
