Background/aim: The aim of this study was to analyze rs2234693 and rs9340799 polymorphisms of the ESR1 gene in the context of breast cancer risk in Polish patients.
Materials And Methods: The study involved a group of 117 patients with breast cancer and 106 controls. The analyses were carried out using the polymerase chain reaction - restriction fragments length polymorphism technique.
Breast cancer is the most-commonly diagnosed malignant tumor in women in the world, as well as the first cause of death from malignant tumors. The incidence of breast cancer is constantly increasing in all regions of the world. For this reason, despite the progress in its detection and treatment, which translates into improved mortality rates, it seems necessary to look for new therapeutic methods, and predictive and prognostic factors.
