Pediatric Residents Knowledge of Penicillin Allergy.

Penicillin allergy knowledge has not been evaluated specifically in the pediatric resident population. An anonymous electronic survey was distributed to all the pediatric residents in a single residency program to ascertain knowledge of penicillin allergies and allergy history taking skills. Responses among each resident class were compared using the Fisher exact test, 2-tailed.

Purpuric rash in an adolescent with fever, pancytopenia, and an hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis-like syndrome due to parvovirus B19.

A rare case of parvovirus B19 infection associated with fever, hemorrhagic rash, and a clinical course resembling an incomplete HLH syndrome is presented. Parvovirus B19 should be included in the evaluation of febrile purpura and HLH-like syndrome.
