We reviewed 573 patients who underwent total laryngectomy between 1989-1999 in the Otolaryngological Clinic of CM UMK. Pharyngocutaneous fistulae occurred in 65 cases (11.3%).

The authors share their experience in treating 50 cases of stenosis or obstruction of the nasolacrimal outflow system. The main advantages of the internal dacryocystorhinostomy performed in operating microscope with intubation of lacrimal canaliculi are: minimally invasive, en excellent cosmetic effect, lack of cicatrix, saving of muscular elements responsible for the function of the lacrimal pump, possibility of surgical procedure in spite of an inflammatory process. The authors express the view, that the optimal solution for the treatment of the cases of lacrimal duct stenosis is the ophtalmologist-otorhinolaryngological team procedure while the whole diagnostic and healing process.

In a case of 66 years old man after partial laryngectomy psychiatric disorders with anorectic symptoms and significant loss of weight were observed. Psychiatric treatment was unsuccessful. Further examination and labour data revealed hyperthyreosis.
