Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the controversial existence of the ER-/PgR+ phenotype in breast cancer by re-evaluating 135 cases from multiple institutions using various validated antibodies.
  • Out of the cancer cases, 76 retained the ER-/PgR+ status, while others were re-categorized as ER+ or double-negatives, with no significant survival differences within the HER2+ group.
  • In the HER2- cohort, confirmed ER-/PgR+ tumors and others with inconsistent ER results showed poorer overall survival, with high PgR expression identified as a negative prognostic factor.

The study included 15 apparently healthy men (18-40 years old) with vitamin D deficiency (group A), 16 subjects with vitamin D insufficiency (group B), and 16 men with normal vitamin D status (group C).
