An influence of different filler types and filler content on the thermal and abrasive wear properties of polyamide-6 is investigated. AlO, MgO, two glass powders with different SiO contents, and natural zeolite powder were selected as fillers. The fillers individually were added to the polymer matrix in proportions of 50 and 70% by weight.

The formation of a specific and stable complex between two (macro)molecules implies complementary contact surface regions. We used ribosomal protein L1, which specifically binds a target site on 23S rRNA, to study the influence of surface modifications on the protein-RNA affinity. The threonine residue in the universally conserved triad Thr-Met-Gly significant for RNA recognition and binding was substituted by phenylalanine, valine and alanine, respectively.

TRAIL (tumor necrosis factor (TNF) related apoptosis-inducing ligand) has been introduced as an extrinsic pathway inducer of apoptosis that does not have the toxicities of Fas and TNF. However, the therapeutic potential of TRAIL is limited because of many primary tumor cells are resistant to TRAIL. Despite intensive investigations, little is known in regards to the mechanisms underlying TRAIL selectivity and efficiency.
