Staphylococcus aureus , a leading cause of bacterial infections in humans, is endowed with a wealth of virulence factors that contribute to the disease process. Several extracellular proteolytic enzymes, including cysteine proteinases referred to as the staphopains (staphopain A, encoded by the scpA gene, and staphopain B, encoded by sspB ), have proposed roles for staphylococcal virulence. EBV-positive gastric carcinomas in Poland.

Epstein-Barr virus plays a substantial role in numerous human neoplasms including gastric carcinoma, as proved recently. In our series EBV has been detected in five cases of forty (12.5%) gastric carcinomas.

Expression of the Na(+)/I(-) symporter in invasive ductal breast cancer.

The function of the sodium iodide symporter (Na(+)/I(-), (NIS), a membrane protein that mediates iodide transport into cells, is the best described in the thyroid cells. NIS is also found in mammary cells during lactation and in breast carcinoma cells. The aim of this study was evaluation of incidence and grade of NIS expression in invasive ductal breast cancer.

EBV-positive lymphoepithelial carcinoma of salivary gland in a woman of a non-endemic area--a case report.

Lymphoepithelial carcinoma of the salivary glands is a very rare malignancy comprising not more than 0.4% of all salivary gland neoplasms in the non-endemic areas. In contrast it is much more frequent among native Greenlanders, North American Inuit (Eskimo) and Southern Chinese people living in Hong Kong.
