Leukocytes migrate through the blood and extravasate into organs to surveil the host for infection or cancer. Recently, we demonstrated that intravenous (IV) anti-CD45.2 antibody labeling allowed for precise tracking of leukocyte migration.

Intraoperative ticagrelor removal with a polymer bead hemoadsorption device is an approved therapy that may reduce perioperative bleeding.
Methods: The current analysis from the international Safe and Timely Antithrombotic Removal (STAR) registry reports outcomes with intraoperative hemoadsorption in patients on ticagrelor undergoing i-CABG before completing the recommended washout.
Objective: Ultrasound-guided salivary gland Botulinum toxin A (Botox) injections are often used in pediatric patients with refractory sialorrhea, performed with or without general anesthesia. This study aims to compare outcomes and costs between these methods.
Study Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Aim: To evaluate the predictive value of preoperative echocardiographic parameters for occurrence of VAs in patients with preexisting ICD undergoing LVAD implantation.
Methods And Results: All consecutive patients (n = 264) with previous ICD who underwent LVAD surgery between May 2011 and December 2019 at our institution were included. The patients were predominantly male (89%) with NICM (59%) and a mean age of 59 ± 10 years.
Increasing evidence suggests that dalbavancin is an effective long-term treatment for ventricular assist device (VAD) infections, with various prolonged dosing regimens currently in use. This retrospective study aimed to assess dalbavancin pharmacokinetics in VAD patients and identify optimal, feasible dosing regimens for long-term suppressive outpatient therapy. Data from Heidelberg University Hospital's VAD register were analyzed using non-linear mixed-effects modeling for pharmacokinetic analysis and dosing simulations (Lixoft).

In most patients who fail to recover while on temporary mechanical circulatory support (tMCS) and who are not eligible for heart transplantation, durable left ventricular assist device (dLVAD) implantation is usually considered a reliable option. This study aimed to describe the outcome of dLVAD therapy following mAFP support and to identify predictors of mortality.

Design: Randomized controlled trial.
Setting: Two level I academic trauma centers.
Background: Compared with primary transplantation, ipsilateral renal re-transplantation is associated with an increased risk of surgical complications and inferior graft outcomes. This study investigates whether an ipsilateral re-transplantation approach is an independent risk factor for surgical complications and early graft loss.
Methods: In this retrospective, single-centre analysis, surgical complications and early graft outcomes of ipsilateral kidney re-transplantations from January 2007 to December 2017 were compared with primary transplantations and contralateral re-transplantations.

Whether the release of a tight lingual frenulum in neonates improves breastfeeding is not clear. Because many of the symptoms of ankyloglossia overlap those of other breastfeeding difficulties, a team partnership is necessary.

This study investigates the psychological comorbidity and the corresponding psychotherapeutic treatment situation of VAD patients. Special attention is also given to the professional perspective VAD team (assistant and senior cardiologists and specialized nurses).

Understanding the association between sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and prognosis is essential for improving patient care. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and prognostic signature of sarcopenia in an acute hospital setting co-led by internists and geriatricians.

This review gives an update on the latest insights into nutritional interventions highlighting the potential of specific dietary regimens prior to transplantation aiming for organ protection and the interplay between dietary intake and gut microbiota.
Recent Findings: Nutrition holds the potential to optimize patients' health prior to and after surgery, it may enhance patients' ability to cope with the procedure-associated stress and it may accelerate their recovery from surgery.
Intraoperative antithrombotic drug removal by haemoadsorption is a novel strategy to reduce perioperative bleeding in patients on antithrombotic drugs undergoing cardiac surgery. The international STAR registry reports real-world clinical outcomes associated with this application. All patients underwent cardiac surgery before completing the recommended washout period.

COVID-19 infection is also associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction which could lead to higher incidence rates in the population. This study aims to shed light on the seemingly paradoxical relationship between COVID-19 and myocardial infarction occurrence on the population level by exploring long-term trends in incidence rates, case fatality, and proportion of patients dying before reaching a hospital.

Increased understanding is necessary to tailor their care. To our knowledge, this is the first study to describe patterns of morbidity and hospitalizations among community-dwelling older HC recipients nationwide and in subgroups defined by age, sex, and amount of HC, and to compare patterns to community-dwelling older adults without HC.

Recently, microgels have been introduced as a very promising bioink, enabling cell protection and the control of the cellular microenvironment.

According to these, postmenopausal women and men who have suffered a fragility fracture should be assessed and pharmaceutical treatment of osteoporosis should always be considered. For the most serious fractures (hip and vertebral fractures), treatment can be initiated immediately.

In this paper, we provide an in-depth assessment on the Bjøntegaard Delta. We construct a large data set of video compression performance comparisons using a diverse set of metrics including PSNR, VMAF, bitrate, and processing energies. These metrics are evaluated for visual data types such as classic perspective video, 360° video, point clouds, and screen content.
