Patients treated with hemato-oncological malignancies (HO) or undergoing cellular therapies such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or chimeric antigen receptor T cells (CAR-T) were significantly affected by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Despite the success of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, immunocompromised patients remain at increased risk for severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19), rendering this group of population a high priority for additional prevention and treatment options. Tixagevimab and Cilgavimab (TIXA/CILGA, AZD7442, Evusheld) is a combination of two fully human, long-acting monoclonal antibodies.

A similar problem is recognized among pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The purpose of this study was to analyze the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and to investigate the connection between vitamin D status and the course of induction treatment of ALL.

The use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) combined with chemotherapy has modernized ALL Ph+ therapy and appears to improve clinical outcome. We report herein the toxicity events and results of children with ALL Ph+ treated according to the EsPhALL2010 protocol (the European intergroup study of post-induction treatment of Philadelphia chromosome positive ALL) in 15 hemato-oncological centers in Poland between the years 2012 and 2019.

We report a case of a 7-year-old girl treated for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia complicated by disseminated mucormycosis during induction therapy. Microscopic examination of surgically removed lung tissue revealed wide, pauci-septate hyphae suggesting a Mucorales infection.

Recently, we have reported their in vitro and in vivo level toxicity profiles which show the non-toxic nature of these polymer capsules encapsulating nanoparticles. However, prior to clinical use, it is essential to ensure that these agents are unlikely to activate immune responses.

However, by activating pathways involved in apoptotic cell recognition and phagocytosis, irradiated cancer cells engender suppressive phenotypes in macrophages. We demonstrate that the macrophage-specific phagocytic receptor, Mertk is upregulated in macrophages in the tumor following radiation therapy.

Although poorly understood, the signals delivered through this crosstalk substantially alter dendritic cell biology. This is well illustrated with release of TNF-α/IL-1β from activated dendritic cells, promoting PGE2 secretion from stromal fibroblasts.

The women were planning their pregnancy at the age of between 20 and 30. The pregnant women declared the importance of physical activity during their pregnancy, however, it did not resulted in the participation in the school of birth.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLittle is known of the regulation of IL-23 secretion in dendritic cells (DC) despite its importance for human Th17 responses. In this study, we show for first time, to our knowledge, that the ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) pathway, involved in DNA damage sensing, acts as an IL-23 repressor. Inhibition of ATM with the highly selective antagonist KU55933 markedly increased IL-23 secretion in human monocyte-derived DC and freshly isolated myeloid DC.
