Muscle sonography is used in rheumatology, neurology, geriatrics, sports medicine and orthopedics. Muscular atrophy with fatty and connective tissue degeneration can be visualized and must be interpreted in conjunction with the sonographic findings of the supplying nerves. Sonography is becoming increasingly more important for the early diagnosis of sarcopenia in rheumatology, geriatrics and osteology.

Assessing Competencies, Needs, and Satisfaction With the Transition From Pediatric to Adult Health Care in Rheumatology: Development and Validation of the Transition-KompAZ.

Objective: The aim of this study was to develop and psychometrically validate a self-report instrument to assess (1) competencies, (2) needs, and (3) satisfaction among youth transitioning from pediatric to adult rheumatology.

Methods: The Transition-KompAZ was developed in several steps with conceptual and psychometric analyses. To test its psychometric properties, the instrument was administered to adolescents and young adults (AYAs; 16-25 years) with inflammatory rheumatic diseases before (group 1) or after (group 2) transfer to adult rheumatology.

Coping with test anxiety using imagery rescripting: A two-session randomized controlled trial.

Background: Up to 55 % of students experience test anxiety (TA), which is characterized by intense physiological and psychological symptoms before or during exams, such as anxiety, fear of failure, sweating, or increased heart rate. Furthermore, TA increases graduation times and can result in discontinuance of the graduate program all together. Previous research demonstrated the beneficial effects of combining cognitive behavioral therapy with imagery rescripting, however, treatment programs are comparably long.

Treating emotion dysregulation in patients with borderline personality disorder using imagery rescripting: A two-session randomized controlled trial.

Studies on Emotionally Dysregulated Behavior (EDB) demonstrated that the conduct thereof is associated with emotion dysregulation and preceded by mental imagery of EDB, which can direct future behavior. These findings are specifically important within the context of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), where emotion dysregulation and EDB are at the core of the disorder. The present study aims to evaluate the efficacy of imagery rescripting (IR) in treating emotion dysregulation associated with EDB in patients diagnosed with BPD.

Relationship dysfunction-marked by frequent conflicts-is one of the hallmark features of borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, the BPD couple as a dyad and partner-related features have rarely been taken into account. The aim of the present study was to investigate hormonal, personality, and relationship relevant factors, such as relationship satisfaction, attachment, and trauma in both partners within a dyad where one partner is diagnosed with BPD.

Background: As immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are increasingly being used due to effectiveness in various tumor entities, rare side effects occur more frequently. Pericardial effusion has been reported in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after or under treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, knowledge about serositis and edemas induced by checkpoint inhibitors in other tumor entities is scarce.

The medical field offers many opportunities to support affected children. This gives physicians and other health professionals the opportunity to provide protective measures and therapies to affected children at an early stage.

The Association Between Test Anxiety, Self-Efficacy, and Mental Images Among University Students: Results From an Online Survey.

A substantial portion of students report test anxiety, and those reporting low levels of self-efficacy seem to be especially affected. Previous research has indicated the relevance of mental images in the maintenance of anxiety disorders, however, no data are available with respect to test anxiety. In order to close this gap, the present study investigates the association between test anxiety, self-efficacy and mental images.

Establishment of an in vitro thrombogenicity test system with cyclic olefin copolymer substrate for endothelial layer formation.

Here, a commercially available perfusion system is explored using plasma-treated cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) as a substrate for the endothelial cell layer. COC was characterized prior to endothelialization and co-cultivation with platelets under static or flow conditions.

Indolent systemic mastocytosis (ISM) is a group of heterogenous diseases characterized by abnormal accumulation of mast cells in at least one organ. ISM can be a cause of osteoporosis. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence, and the prognosis of ISM in a cohort of patients with osteoporosis.

Effect of Endothelial Culture Medium Composition on Platelet Responses to Polymeric Biomaterials.

Near-physiological in vitro thrombogenicity test systems for the evaluation of blood-contacting endothelialized biomaterials requires co-cultivation with platelets (PLT). However, the addition of PLT has led to unphysiological endothelial cell (EC) detachment in such in vitro systems. A possible cause for this phenomenon may be PLT activation triggered by the applied endothelial cell medium, which typically consists of basal medium (BM) and nine different supplements.

S-ketamine and intranasal application: alternatives for the castration of male suckling piglets?

Background: The intramuscular injection of ketamine and azaperone was proposed as a suitable anaesthesia for male suckling piglets for surgical castration. However, this can be opposed by massive defensive movements, hypothermia and tachycardia during castration and a long recovery period. The aim of the present study was to test whether the use of S-ketamine and/or a change in the route of application from intramuscular to intranasal could reduce stress responses and the duration of recovery compared to the intramuscular route and the use of racemic ketamine.

Short Imagery Rescripting Intervention to Treat Emotionally Dysregulated Behavior in Borderline Personality Disorder: An Exploratory Study.

Background: Current research on borderline personality disorder report an association between emotionally dysregulated behaviors and intrusive mental imagery depicting similar scenes. Imagery rescripting techniques have proven effective in reducing intrusive mental imagery in numerous contexts. We developed a two session-short intervention in which intrusive mental images are identified, analyzed, and modified for daily rehearsal at home.

Prediction of pathological complete response in breast cancer patients during neoadjuvant chemotherapy: Is shear wave elastography a useful tool in clinical routine?
