Premature ovarian insufficiency is a common form of female infertility affecting up to 4% of women and characterised by amenorrhea with elevated gonadotropin before the age of 40. Oocytes require controlled DNA breakage and repair for homologous recombination and the maintenance of oocyte integrity. Biallelic disruption of the DNA damage repair gene, Fanconi anemia complementation group A (FANCA), is a common cause of Fanconi anaemia, a syndrome characterised by bone marrow failure, cancer predisposition, physical anomalies and POI.

Advances in genome sequencing allowed the discovery of new genes implicated in sexual development, such as PBX1.

Background: 25-Hydroxyvitamin D 24-hydroxylase (CYP24A1) deficiency is a rare cause of autosomal recessive infantile hypercalcemia due to vitamine D hypersensitivity.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a 2-year-old boy who presented with severe hypercalcemia-hypercalciuria and a bilateral nephrocalcinosis. Laboratory investigations detected a collapsed parathormone and a highly elevated 1α,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol along with an increased phosphate excretion (hypophosphatemia and hyperphosphaturia).

Background/aims: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are used in sports medicine and have been the subject of increased clinical interest. However, there have been very few reports of the composition of initial whole blood and the final PRP product. The objective of this study was to provide technical tools to perform a correct characterisation of platelets, leucocytes and red blood cells (RBCs) from whole blood and PRP.
