Introduction: High inflammation parameters like C-reactive protein and low albumin levels are considered as risk factors in CKD stage 5 patients. Due to dynamic changes in these parameters, there is evidence of an association between their variation and mortality in hemodialysis patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 153 patients on chronic hemodialysis.
Background: The period after parathyroidectomy (PTx) in dialysis patients is characterized by periods of severe hypocalcemia. This study aims to investigate the effect of high doses of active vitamin D immediately after PTx on the development of hypocalcemia.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 111 patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism receiving subtotal PTx between 2010 and 2019.
The rapamycin analogue everolimus (EVR) is a potent inhibitor of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and clinically used to prevent allograft rejections as well as tumor growth. The pharmacokinetic and immunosuppressive efficacy of EVR have been extensively reported in patient populations and in vitro studies. However, dose-dependent ex vivo effects upon acute EVR administration in healthy volunteers are rare.

It remains unclear, however, whether potential adverse events induced by the drug are also behaviorally conditioned. Employing an established taste-immune learning paradigm in healthy humans using the calcineurin inhibitor and immunosuppressive drug cyclosporine A (CsA) as an unconditioned stimulus, we investigated whether and to what extent perceived adverse events induced by acute CsA administration are behaviorally conditioned.

However, it remains unclear whether and to what extent cognitive functions such as memory and attention processes are affected by the pharmacological treatment. This is partly because of the fact that it is difficult to refer the observed neuropsychological disturbances in patients to the drug itself, to drug-induced immune suppression, or to interaction with other medication or comorbidities.
