Purpose: The optimal timing for laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis (AC) has not been resolved. In the revised Tokyo Guidelines from 2018 (TG18), early laparoscopic cholecystectomy (ELC) is recommended regardless of the duration of symptoms.
