Background: Long-term care facility employees' workload escalation intensifies negative risk for (nursing) staff health, residents, and the economy. Workplace health promotion (WHP) has emerged as a vital approach with positive impacts on employee well-being. This Scoping Review focuses on multimodal WHP programs in long-term care facilities, emphasizing barriers, facilitators, and the integration of complementary and integrative medicine (CIM).

Aim: Healthcare professionals are at increased risk of burnout, primarily due to workplace-related stressors. The COVID-19 pandemic has further increased this risk. Different interventions exist with varying degrees of effectiveness; little is reported on the content and implementation of such programs.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of water-filtered infrared-A whole-body hyperthermia (WBH) compared to sham hyperthermia in reducing pain intensity in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).
  • 41 participants, aged 18-70 with confirmed FMS, were split into two groups: one receiving WBH and the other receiving the sham treatment over six sessions in three weeks.
  • Results showed significant pain reduction in the WBH group at both the end of treatment (week 4) and follow-up (week 30), suggesting WBH is an effective therapy option for managing FMS pain.

Background: Over 2 million people in Europe are affected by ulcerative colitis, which often severely impacts the quality of life of those concerned. Among other factors, lifestyle and psychosocial factors seem to play an important role in pathogenesis and course of the disease and can be addressed as a complement to pharmacotherapy in comprehensive lifestyle modification programs.

Methods: This qualitative study as part of a mixed methods approach was carried out in the framework of a randomized controlled trial that examined the effect of a comprehensive lifestyle-modification-program (10-week-day clinic program) on quality of life in patients with ulcerative colitis.

Objective: The present study presents long-term results of stress-related outcomes of a prospective RCT that evaluated effects of a ten-week comprehensive lifestyle-modification program (LSM) in patients with inactive ulcerative colitis (UC). In addition, exploratory results of a sub-study applying a laboratory stress protocol (Trier Social Stress Test; TSST) conducted within the RCT are reported.

Methods: Ninety-seven patients with inactive UC were randomized to LSM ( = 47; 50.

Background: In Germany, there is hardly any institutionalization of pediatric complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) present, which is one reason why the statutory health insurance companies usually do not cover the costs. Which in turn serves as an obstacle for integrating CIM into routine pediatric care. Within the present study, we assessed existing demand for CIM methods in parents of children in clinical primary care and whether the parents would be willing to cover the costs privately.

Objective: Complementary and integrative medicine (CIM), including mind-body medicine (MBM), is a treatment option that has been proved to alleviate symptoms in patients with low back and neck pain.

Methods: Data from the National Center for Health Statistics' National Health Interview Survey 2017 were used to examine prevalence and predictors of MBM use and consultation of CIM practitioners among patients with low back and neck pain in the American adult population.

Results: A weighted total of 81,671,436 participants (33.

Patients with ulcerative colitis suffer from impaired health-related quality of life (HrQoL). Comprehensive lifestyle-modification might increase HrQoL and decrease disease activity. Ninety-seven patients in clinical remission with impaired HrQoL were randomly assigned to a 10 week comprehensive lifestyle-modification program (LSM; = 47; 50.

Introduction: Chronic non-specific low back pain is a major public health problem. Evidence supports the effectiveness of exercise as an intervention. Due to a paucity of direct comparisons of different exercise categories, medical guidelines were unable to make specific recommendations regarding the type of exercise working best in improving chronic low back pain.

To investigate the diagnostic performance of simultaneous F-fluoro-deoxyglucose ([F]-FDG) PET/MR enterography in assessing and grading endoscopically active inflammation in patients with ulcerative colitis. 50 patients underwent PET/MR 24 h before ileocolonoscopy. Inflammatory activities of bowel segments were evaluated with both Mayo endoscopic subscore and Nancy histologic index.

Objective: To compare the diagnostic performance of fecal biomarkers and F-fludeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emmision tomography-MR (PET-MR) in the assessment of disease activity in patients with ulcerative colitis.

Methods: This study was conducted under the framework of a single-center clinical trial (clinicaltrials.gov [NCT03781284]).

Background And Aims: Patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) might have a higher prevalence of fructose malabsorption than healthy controls. This study's aim was to determine the prevalence and symptom severity of fructose malabsorption in patients with active and inactive IBD.

Methods: The present study was a multicenter noninterventional diagnostic pilot trial.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare PET/MR enterography with ileocolonoscopy regarding patients' acceptance and their future preference.

Methods: Between October 2014 and February 2018 one-hundred-eleven patients underwent PET/MR enterography and ileocolonoscopy within 2 weeks. Overall acceptance of each modality was rated using a 10-point Likert scale with higher score indicating worse experience.

Objectives: Short-chain fatty acids are involved in the regulation of the gut immune system. In ulcerative colitis, short-chain fatty acids are often reduced, especially during flare. This study evaluated exploratively the pattern of butyrate and total short-chain fatty acids in patients with ulcerative colitis during flare treated either with mesalamine or a herbal preparation consisting of myrrh, chamomile flowers, and coffee charcoal which showed promising results in maintaining remission in a randomized double-blind, double-dummy, controlled clinical trial (EudraCT-Number 2007-007928-18).

Our objective was to define an F-FDG PET/MR enterography index as a hybrid surrogate marker for active ileocolonic inflammation in Crohn's disease (CD) and assess its diagnostic performance in comparison to validated MR indices (MR index of activity [MaRIA], Clermont score). Fifty-two CD patients with recurrent symptoms underwent ileocolonoscopy and F-FDG PET/MR enterography. Three hundred three ileocolonic segments were assessed for inflammation using MaRIA and the Clermont score as well as the newly defined PET/MR index.
