LGBTQI+ individuals often face health disparities, with encumbered outcomes. We investigated the perspectives of a wide range of Greek health professionals using a battery of questionnaires examining LGBTQI+ health-related knowledge, attitudes, and clinical preparedness, while exploring the potential challenges they face when providing care for LGBTQI+ patients via qualitative analysis of their free text answers. In total, 220 health professionals participated, including physicians, nurses, dentists, physiotherapists, social workers, nutritionists, medical laboratory professionals, pharmacists, radiographers, and health promotion specialists.

The expression of epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM, a marker of hepatic progenitor cells), p21 (a marker of hepatocyte senescence), glutamine synthetase (a marker of perivenular hepatocytes) and CD34 (a marker of sinusoidal capillarization) were assessed by immunohistochemistry in 52 liver biopsy specimens from patients with advanced stage chronic hepatitis B. Nineteen patients developed hepatocellular carcinoma during a follow-up period of 133 months.

This study investigates the prevalence of anxiety and depression among public primary health care professionals (PHCPs) in Greece, along with the demographic risk factors, during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to address work exhaustion and protect frontline professionals' psycho-emotional balance. This cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2021 to August 2021, using an online questionnaire (demographic data, GAD-7, PHQ-9).

The SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic has put a burden on health systems worldwide and especially on healthcare workers at the first line delivering their services in remote areas of Greece. This study investigates preparedness and awareness level of primary healthcare workers (PHCWs) and their risk perception in managing the pandemic during its initial phase.

Exploring patient perspectives in different cultures and contexts could contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of poor blood pressure (BP) control. This study aimed to investigate patients' knowledge and attitudes towards BP management in order to identify possible barriers to achieving effective control.

Among them, those caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria increase morbidity and mortality mainly because of limited therapeutic options. Current knowledge regarding MDR infections in patients with solid tumors is limited.

Methods: All directors of the PHC centers of the Third Health Authority of the prefecture of Macedonia, Greece were asked to invite their personnel to participate voluntarily in a project on safe internet use. Participants attended a 1-day train-the-trainers course on cyber-safety in order to serve as educators in a school-based intervention in their communities.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers are drugs commonly used for the treatment of hypertension. However, studies on their comparative efficacy have not been extensively investigated. The current systematic review and network meta-analysis studied the comparative efficacy of the two antihypertensive treatment categories in reducing blood pressure, mortality, and morbidity in essential hypertension patients.

Demographic, lifestyle, systemic and other ophthalmic covariates were also collected during a detailed examination process. Their association with AMD was investigated using univariate and multivariate adjusted logistic regression models.

We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of antigen-based immunotherapies in tertiary prevention of autoimmune diabetes. We searched for randomised controlled trials testing antigen-based immunotherapies in patients with recent-onset type 1 diabetes or latent autoimmune diabetes of adults in MEDLINE, COCHRANE and EMBASE databases, trial registries, conference proceedings and reference lists of pertinent records. Primary outcomes were fasting and stimulated C-peptide (after glucagon or mixed meal stimulation).

Patients previously resistant to conventional regimens were enrolled. The annual impact of ETN was assessed by: (a) the American College of Rheumatology pediatric criteria (ACRpedi), (b) the pre- and posttreatment disease activity score (juvenile arthritis disease activity score [JADAS71]), and (c) Wallace's criteria for CR.

To investigate whether reported vertigo during the Epley maneuver predicts therapeutic success in patients with benign paroxysmal positioning vertigo of the posterior semicircular canal (pc-BPPV). Fifty consecutive adult patients with pc-BPPV, based on a positive Dix-Hallpike test (DHT), were treated with the Epley maneuver and retested after 2 days. Patients were asked to report the presence of vertigo upon assuming each of the four positions of the maneuver.

The aim of this study was to assess the short-term efficacy of head and body movement limitations after a single Epley maneuver. A review of the literature was performed to assess the current level of evidence for the efficacy of postural restrictions.

Guideline statements may be supported by evidence obtained from various study designs, but randomized trials are usually considered most important for making recommendations about therapeutic and preventive interventions. This study evaluated the extent to which randomized trials are cited in guidelines published in major journals. The references of 191 guidelines of therapeutic and/or preventive interventions published in Annals of Internal Medicine, BMJ, JAMA, Lancet, NEJM and Pediatrics in 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, and 1999, were analyzed.
