Rhythmic oscillation of biological processes helps organisms adapt their physiological responses to the most appropriate time of the day. The importance of these changes in transcriptional activation as well as in the maintenance of heterochromatic regions has been widely demonstrated.

The bacterial biocontrol agent Paenibacillus alvei K165 confers inherited resistance to Verticillium dahliae.

The biocontrol agent Paenibacillus alvei K165 was previously shown to protect Arabidopsis thaliana plants against Verticillium dahliae. Here we show that K165 also confers inherited immune resistance to V. dahliae.
