A retrospective study of DRESS - drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms.

Objectives: DRESS (drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic syndrome) is qualified as hypersensitivity after drug reaction. This syndrome may occur due to any medication intake. There are three main groups of symptoms defining DRESS: skin lesions, hematological abnormalities and internal organ involvement.

Therapeutic drug monitoring of atypical antipsychotics.

The paper presents an overview and analysis of the results of research on therapeutic ranges of concentrations and receptor occupancy, mainly D2 receptors, in the treatment with some atypical antipsychotic drugs. Amisulpride, aripiprazole, clozapine, quetiapine, olanzapine, risperidone, paliperidone, sertindole, and ziprasidone were taken into account. The benefits of therapeutic drug monitoring to optimize the effectiveness of treatment and avoid side effects or toxicity were shown.

Rapid-onset agranulocytosis in a patient treated with clozapine and lamotrigine.

Background: Clozapine is the treatment of choice in drug-resistant schizophrenia. Lamotrigine is a mood stabiliser recommended as combined treatment strategy in clozapine-resistant patients. There are cases of late-onset agranulocytosis reported in literature.
