The aim of this study was to probe an unexpected relationship between the ice nucleation temperature (T), process efficiency and product attributes in a controlled ice nucleation (CIN) lyophilization process. An amorphous product was lyophilized with (CIN-5 °C, CIN-7 °C or CIN-10 °C) or without (NOCIN) control of ice nucleation. Process parameters and product attributes were monitored and compared using a series of advanced in-line and off-line process analytical technology (PAT) tools.

Evaluating the dermal absorption of sunscreen UV filters requires the development of a bio-predictable in vitro permeation test (IVPT). This work describes the comparison of two IVPT methods and rank order correlations of in vitro absorption (skin permeation and retention) with the in vivo absorption (AUC and skin retention) of sunscreens. The IVPT was compared regarding the following elements: (1) application of a single finite dose vs.

The physical and chemical stability of therapeutic peptides presents challenges in developing robust formulations. The stability of the formulation affects product safety, efficacy and quality. Therefore, an understanding of the effects of formulation variables on the peptide's conformational structure and on its possible physical and chemical degradation is vital.

Nanoformulations (NF) are widely explored as potential alternatives for traditional ophthalmic formulation approaches. The effective treatment of ocular diseases using conventional eye drops is often hampered by factors such as: physiological barriers, rapid elimination, protein binding, and enzymatic drug degradation. Combined, these factors are known to contribute to reduced ocular residence time and poor bioavailability.
