Negotiating care in organizational borderlands: a grounded theory of inter-organizational collaboration in coordination of care.

Background: Although coordination of care and integrated care models aim to enhance patient satisfaction and perceived care quality, evidence regarding their practical implementation remains scarce. Understanding the nuances of collaboration across care providers to achieve effective coordination of care is imperative for seamless care integration. The aim of this study was to construct a grounded theory of how inter-organizational collaboration is performed to support coordination of care for patients with complex care needs.

Deciphering the Impact of Current, Composition, and Potential on the Lithiation Behavior of Si-Rich Silicon-Graphite Anodes.

Adding silicon (Si) to graphite (Gr) anodes is an effective approach for boosting the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, but it also triggers mechanical instability due to Si volume changes upon (de)lithiation reactions. In this work, component-specific (de)lithiation dynamics on Si-rich (30 and 70 wt.% Si) SiGr anodes at various charge/discharge C-rates are unveiled and compared to a graphite-only electrode (100Gr) via operando synchrotron X-ray diffraction coupled with differential capacity plots analysis.

Background: In an increasingly strained maternity care system with a shortage of midwives and great demands for service, pregnant women in their early labour are at risk of receiving insufficient support. Women make calls and visit the labour ward on multiple occasions before being admitted. A video call with a labour ward midwife during early labour is an unknown practice but could support pregnant women and their partners during this uncertain period.

Background: Few studies consider both radiological and functional outcomes in COVID-19 survivors treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). This paper describes how an animated video for pre- and postoperative instructions for patients with osteoarthritis was designed. The design science research (DSR) approach was followed by creating a web-based animated video.

[Formula: see text] is a promising material for developing high-capacity anodes for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). However, microstructural changes of [Formula: see text] anodes at the particle and electrode level upon prolonged cycling remains unclear. In this work, the causes leading to capacity fade on [Formula: see text] anodes were investigated and simple strategies to attenuate anode degradation were explored.

Resilience in keeping the balance between demand and capacity in the COVID-19 pandemic, a case study at a Swedish middle-sized hospital.

Background: In pandemics, it is critical to find a balance between healthcare demand, and capacity, taking into consideration the demands of the patients affected by the pandemic, as well as other patients (in elective or emergency care). The purpose of this paper is to suggest conceptual models for the capacity requirements at the emergency department, the inpatient care, and intensive care unit as well as a model for building staff capacity in pandemics.

Methods: This paper is based on a qualitative single case study at a middle-sized hospital in Sweden.

Experiences of using surveillance cameras as a monitoring solution at nursing homes: The eldercare personnel's perspectives.

Background: As the number of older people increases, so does the need for care. However, the workforce in eldercare cannot increase at the rate required to match the needs. Welfare technologies, such as surveillance cameras, can replace physical visits and be used at night to monitor older people in order to keep them safe, while not disturbing their sleep.

Nurses' experiences of person-centred care planning using video-conferencing.

Aim: The aim was to illuminate how nurses experience person-centred care planning using video conferencing upon hospital discharge of frail older persons.

Design: Care planning via video conferencing requires collaboration, communication and information transfer between involved parties, both with regard to preparing and conducting meetings. Participation of involved parties is required to achieve a collaborative effort, but the responsibilities and roles of the involved professions are unclear, despite the existence of regulations.

Severe COVID-19 is associated with inflammation, thromboembolic disease, and high mortality. We studied factors associated with fatal outcomes in consecutive COVID-19 patients examined by computed tomography pulmonary angiogram (CTPA). This retrospective, single-center cohort analysis included 130 PCR-positive patients hospitalized for COVID-19 [35 women and 95 men, median age 57 years (interquartile range 51-64)] with suspected pulmonary embolism based on clinical suspicion.

Nanostructured diatom earth SiO negative electrodes with superior electrochemical performance for lithium ion batteries.

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a naturally occurring silica source constituted by fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae, which exhibits a complex hierarchically nanostructured porous silica network. In this work, we analyze the positive effects of reducing DE SiO particles to the sub-micrometer level and implementing an optimized carbon coating treatment to obtain DE SiO anodes with superior electrochemical performance for Li-ion batteries. Pristine DE with an average particle size of 17 μm is able to deliver a specific capacity of 575 mA h g after 100 cycles at a constant current of 100 mA g, and reducing the particle size to 470 nm enhanced the reversible specific capacity to 740 mA h g.

Silicon, while suffering from major degradation issues, has been recognized as a next promising material to replace currently used graphite in the anodes of Li-ion batteries. Within the present work we evaluated different binder formulations to improve the long-term performance of the Li-ion batteries' anodes based on industrial grade silicon (Si) which is typically characterized by a particle sizes ranging from 100 nm to 5.

In spite of its insulating nature, SiO may be utilized as active anode material for Li-ion batteries. Synthetic SiO will typically require sophisticated synthesis and/or activation procedures in order to obtain a satisfactory performance. Here, we report on diatom frustules as active anode material without the need for extensive activation procedures.

Frail Older Persons' Experiences of Information and Participation in Hospital Care.

The aim of this paper is to describe frail older persons' experiences of hospital care of information and participation when being an inpatient at a hospital. A qualitative method was used. Data were collected at the hospital from 20 interviews with frail older patients, together with observations in the environment at the hospital ward.

Challenges in Using IT Systems for Collaboration in Healthcare Services.

Frail elderly people refer to multi-diseased and vulnerable patients in need of medication and healthcare. These patients require healthcare from several different healthcare organizations, including hospital care, primary care, and municipal care services. This situation is challenging the capacity of healthcare organizations to manage inter-professional collaboration for person-centered care.

Lenalidomide as immune adjuvant to a dendritic cell vaccine in chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients.

Objectives: We previously showed that immunization with ex vivo- generated autologous dendritic cells loaded with apoptotic tumor cells (Apo-DC) potentiated tumor-specific immunity in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients. Here, we evaluated safety and immunogenicity of Apo-DC in combination with lenalidomide, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), and low-dose cyclophosphamide (CTX).

Methods: Ten previously untreated patients with slowly progressing CLL received 5 Apo-DC vaccinations and lenalidomide orally for 24 weeks either alone (cohort I, n = 5) or together with subcutaneous GM-CSF and intravenous CTX (cohort II, n = 5).
