Internal Carotid Artery Web: Doppler Ultrasound with CT Angiography correlation.

We present a case of an internal carotid web, detected on duplex ultrasound and confirmed by CT angiography. To our knowledge, this is only the third reported ultrasound case in the imaging literature. This vascular abnormality can cause a clinically significant carotid stenosis and is a risk factor for recurrent embolic cerebrovascular events.

Imaging of vascular complications and their consequences following transplantation in the abdomen.

Transplantation is the surgical treatment of choice for end-stage organ failure. Transplantation procedures performed in the abdomen include liver, renal, pancreas, islet, intestinal, and multivisceral transplantations. Imaging plays a pivotal role in the posttransplantation setting for monitoring the transplant allograft and screening for complications.

Incidence and significance of inconclusive results in ultrasound for appendicitis in children and teenagers.

Purpose: Frustratingly, sonography to assess for appendicitis in children often leads to an inconclusive report (eg, "suspicious for appendicitis") or nonvisualization of the appendix. To aid in planning who to image and how to interpret the results, we investigated whether these 2 results were more frequent in teenagers than preteens and the prevalence of appendicitis associated with each result.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed sonographic and surgical findings in patients <18 years (n = 189) referred with clinical suspicion of appendicitis over a 12-month period.
