Effectiveness and Feasibility of Digital Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Patients Undergoing Lung Cancer Surgery: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) has been shown to effectively support postsurgical recovery in patients with lung cancer (LC) at various stages. While digital PR programs offer a potential solution to traditional challenges, such as time and space constraints, their efficacy and feasibility for patients undergoing LC surgery remain unclear.

Objective: This systematic review aims to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of digital PR programs for individuals undergoing LC surgery.

A 53-year-old immunocompetent man was admitted to our hospital because of paroxysmal cough with a low fever for more than 5 months. On admission, chest computed tomography showed multiple plaques and nodules, some with small central cavities, in both lungs and cystic and columnar bronchiectasis of the right middle bronchus. Treatment with various antibiotics was ineffective.

Background: In 2009, our study showed an extreme imbalance and disparity in COPD-related health resources allocation at three levels of public hospitals (PHs) in Hunan Province of the People's Republic of China, especially in second-level PHs. Moreover, most Chinese citizens accept their health care services in first- and second-level PHs for economic and geographical reasons, as well as because of the incomplete transfer system in the health care services. To improve diagnosis and treatment ability of pulmonologists in second-level PHs, an intervention that provided training combined with spirometry equipment was carried out in three PHs from six second-level PHs.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase: potential target in human multiple myeloma.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK), a Tec family non-receptor tyrosine kinase that is required for B cell development, is critical for the initiation and maintenance of human B-cell malignancies. However, the expression of BTK and the role that BTK plays in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM) remain seldom reported. In this study we examined the expression and screened for gene mutations of BTK in MM cells.

Biologic activity of triptolide in t(8;21) acute myeloid leukemia cells.

Triptolide is a compound isolated from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Tripterygium wilfordii that shows potent anti-tumor activities, but its effects on acute myeloid leukemia with t(8;21) remain unclear. Here we report that triptolide inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in a dose- and time-dependent manner of t(8;21)-bearing Kasumi-1, SKNO-1 and CD34+ cells harvested from bone marrow samples of patients with t(8;21) leukemia. We show that triptolide triggers cleavage of the resultant AML1-ETO fusion protein of t(8;21), and causes downregulation of C-KIT followed by inhibition of JAK-STAT signaling.
