Mercury remediation potential of mercury-resistant strain Rheinheimera metallidurans sp. nov. isolated from a municipal waste dumping site.

A novel mercury-resistant bacterium, designated strain DCL_24, was isolated from the legacy waste at the Daddu Majra dumping site in Chandigarh, India. It showed resistance up to 300 µM of inorganic mercury (mercuric chloride).
