In this case report, a four-week-old boy, who since birth had suffered from constipation and infantile colic, presented with seizures, myoclonic jerks and irritability after being fed with a herbal mixture of star anise the day prior to admission. Chinese star anise is a globally used spice and a herbal remedy for infantile colic. The quick recovery of the boy and normal paraclinical findings supported the assumption of star anise intoxication.

[Palytoxin poisoning related to salt water aquarium].

Palytoxin is a potent toxin found in zoanthid species, a popular decorative coral used in private aquaria. Inappropriate cleaning procedure may lead to palytoxin poisoning by dermal contact and inhalation of water aerosols, affecting several organ systems. This is a case report of three family members admitted to a hospital with symptoms compatible with palytoxin poisoning after cleaning an aquarium.

Skin and respiratory disorders following the identification of disaster victims in Thailand.

The purpose was to assess disorders related to disaster victim identification (DVI) in a group of Danish forensic personnel that had performed disaster victim identification in Thailand after the 2004 tsunami. All individuals from the DVI team were screened using a questionnaire to identify disorders presenting in relation to DVI work in Thailand. All participants who had a positive screening result were examined clinically by an occupational physician and had a standard lung function test.
